Carpet Care

It is so easy to knock a glass of wine over on the carpet or spill your hot cup of tea or coffee, we have all done it at one time or another. Below is a list of handy hints and tips to help with those common stains and emergencies.

Tea/Coffee and Fruit Juices

Apply pressure with wads of kitchen roll to soak up all the liquid. Once all the liquid has been absorbed dab the stain with cold water and blot with more kitchen roll. If necessary treat the stain with a very mild laundry detergent solution, ensuring all residue is blotted away from the carpet with plain water. DO NOT OVER WET

AND DO NOT USE WASHING UP LIQUID.

Red Wine

Apply pressure with wads of kitchen roll to soak up all the liquid. Once all the liquid has been absorbed treat carefully with a solution of white vinegar or white wine to neutralise the stain, then blot and repeat if necessary.

Blood

You need to do the same as you would for a tea or coffee stain but take extra care not to spread the stain around.

Candle Wax

Place some absorbent paper over the wax and rub over it with a hot iron.

Chewing Gum

One of the best ways to remove chewing gum from a carpet is to apply ice cubes to it, this will make the gum brittle and easier to remove.

Lipstick

To remove a lipstick stain you should use dry cleaning fluid/spray if available, otherwise use a carpet shampoo solution.

Nail Polish

The best thing to remove nail varnish is nail varnish remover.

Urine and Vomit

The best thing for these types of stains is a carpet shampoo solution.
